So when you come in for a hip arthroscopy, you’ll come down to the operating theatre, see the anaesthetist, and you undergo a full general anaesthetic to sleep during the procedure itself. We place you onto a special table, it’s very well padded. It just allows us to separate the two parts of the hip so that we can pass our camera into the hip joint. We usually make two or three little incisions around the hip joint itself through which the whole operation is performed.
After the operation you go into the recovery area and then work with the physiotherapist either later that day or the following morning, to start getting you up and getting you mobile on crutches, and start your rehabilitation.
