Dr Avinash Sharma
Consultant Physician
Dr Avinash Sharma
Dr Avinash Sharma has been a Consultant Physician at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital since April 2016. Prior to this he had been consulting at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital since August 2009.
He works collaboratively with his orthopaedic colleagues in optimising medical co-morbidities to improve health outcomes in his patients. He specialises in delivering comprehensive and patient-centred holistic care.
He trained in General and Geriatric Medicine in NW Thames (London Deanery), after attaining his MRCP in 2003. His clinical and research interest focuses on understanding the pathophysiology and management of varied illnesses in the elderly population, with a special emphasis on falls prevention, Parkinson’s disease, frailty and early supported discharge.
He has keen interest in training of medical students and junior doctors. He has co-authored various books to aid with MRCP exam preparation and till August 2015 had been RCP college tutor.
His private practice is based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Lister Hospital, Chelsea Outpatients Centre, London Clinic, Schoen Clinic and RB&HH Clinic.
Dr Rebecca Smith
Rebecca Smith is a consultant anaesthetist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, having been appointed in 2014. She works privately in London at The Lister, King Edward VII and One Welbeck.
Rebecca qualified as a doctor at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Having moved to England she obtained a Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Rebecca holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education and a Masters in Regional Anaesthesia. She is an instructor for Adult Life Support (ResusUK).
Rebecca has a strong interest in enhanced recovery, and works collaboratively with patients in the peri-operative period. In conjunction with Mr Luke Jones, Rebecca has been instrumental in the design and delivery of the protocols used for joint replacement surgery.
Dr Joanna Allam
Dr Joanna Allam successfully obtained her undergraduate medical degree (MBBS) from the University of London in 1998. As a postgraduate, she went on to train under the highly respected Imperial School of Anaesthesia, London, to achieve the Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2003. During that time, she undertook a clinical and research fellowship in obstetric anaesthesia, and is now a well-published author in this field.
Dr Allam was appointed as a Consultant Anaesthetist by Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust in 2007. Following on from that, she has been an active proponent of clinical governance and service quality improvement and has held several leadership positions within the department of Anaesthesia, including Airway, Recovery and Obstetric Anaesthesia leads. Throughout her career, she has been very involved with training and is a certified high fidelity simulation instructor, as well as an Adult Life Support (ResusUK) instructor. Her weekly clinical activities include anaesthesia for planned orthopaedic and emergency surgery, obstetrics /gynaecology and plastic surgery. She has, over several years, enjoyed working regularly and closely with Mr Sinnett, in combining the highest standards of clinical care for achieving optimal patient outcomes.
Dr Richard George
Dr Richard George qualified as a doctor in 2001 from Guy’s and St.Thomas’ Hospitals, London. He has dual qualified in both Medicine, becoming a Member of Royal College of Physicians in 2006 and Anaesthesia, becoming a Fellow of Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2008. He has completed Fellowships in Regional Anaesthesia at St.George’s Hospital, London and Obstetric Anaesthesia at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, London.
Richard was appointed as an NHS Consultant Anaesthetist at Ashford and St.Peter’s Hospitals, Surrey in 2014 and is currently their Lead for Obstetric Anaesthesia and for Surgical Site Infection. He has a keen interest in patient safety and leads projects aiming to reduce surgical site infections and to improve compliance with safety processes in the operating theatre.
Richard has undertaken private practice alongside his NHS practice since 2017 and was invited by Grosvenor Orthopaedics to work alongside Dr Rebecca Smith in 2019.
Away from work, Richard is married with 2 children and enjoys playing and watching most sports including hockey, golf and cricket.
Dr emma casely
Dr Emma Casely is a consultant anaesthetist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, having been appointed in 2022. She works privately in London at The King Edward VII, The Lister, and The Portland Hospitals.
Emma qualified as a doctor at the University of Nottingham and completed her postgraduate training in Oxford and London. She holds a Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Emma also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education and has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She completed a fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital and dual specialises in both adult and paediatric anaesthesia.
Emma has a particular interest in managing peri-operative anxiety and has completed numerous prize-winning projects focussed on improving both patient experience and safety. Emma is also lead for clinical fellows in anaesthesia at Chelsea and Westminster, and is committed to providing the highest possible standards of patient care.
Dr Rajat Chowdhury
Consultant Musculoskeletal and Interventional Sports Radiologist
MA(Oxon) BMBCh(Oxon) MRCS FRCR FBIR
Rajat is a Consultant Musculoskeletal and Interventional Radiologist at Grosvenor Orthopaedics and has an NHS practice at Oxford University Hospitals. He holds an academic position as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Oxford University; is Director of Anatomy at The Queen’s College, Oxford; and is also the Radiology Lead for the Musculoskeletal Sciences MSc. at Oxford University. He is expert advisor to the NICE Guideline Committee for Osteoarthritis and previously sat on the Professional Support and Standards Board at The Royal College of Radiologists.
Rajat graduated from Oxford University with several medical school prizes and spent parts of his training on scholarship at Harvard University and the Mayo Clinic, USA. After completing basic surgical training on the Imperial College Surgery Programme, he pursued a career in radiology on the Wessex Radiology Programme; completed a musculoskeletal radiology fellowship at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London; and an honorary fellowship at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford. Rajat has published research papers in international journals and has written several medical textbooks including in Radiology and Anatomy. He lectures at international conferences and represents the UK on WHO’s Tumour Radiology Board, as well as serving as an associate journal editor of Clinical Radiology.
Rajat specialises in all areas of diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal radiology. He has a particular interest in sporting injuries and works collaboratively with celebrated opinion-leading clinicians to deliver first-class bespoke care to all his patients, including elite athletes and high-profile individuals.

Ben is a consultant radiologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and private institutions across London including King Edward VII Hospital, Lister Hospital, London Bridge Hospital, Cromwell Hospital and OneWellbeck.
He is dedicated to enhancing the patient journey by combining expert care with optimal patient experience. He forms a crucial part of the Grosvenor team, integrating his extensive clinical experience and radiological expertise into the patient pathway, contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of conditions using advanced imaging and minimally invasive techniques. He has a reputation as a compassionate communicator, expert diagnostic radiologist and highly skilled interventionalist.
