Adolescent Sports Injuries is a subspecialty of Orthopaedics that deals with sports injuries in teenagers such as fractures, breaks, sprains, dislocations, overuse injuries, ACL tears and more.
Adolescent teenagers are not just small adults, they require an approach to treatment which may be different from that of an adult treatment pathway. As children are growing their changing anatomy affects both the diagnosis and treatment of fractures and injuries. The body of an adolescent is going through the transition from a child to an adult and so has specific injury patterns.
At Grosvenor Orthopaedics we recognise these differences and offer a bespoke service for this age group. This often involves joint consultations with an adult and paediatric orthopaedic specialist. By combining the knowledge and skills of both consultants we believe we can provide your child with optimal treatment plan whether that be tailored physiotherapy or surgery.
The team are specialists in helping young people with sports-related injuries return to the top of their game and prevent occurrence of future injuries. We offer multispecialty care that is designed to address the unique needs of young athletes, including consultations and imaging services. In addition, we have close contacts with specialist adolescent physiotherapist, occupational therapy, podiatrists, orthotics and sports medics in the city.
