Total knee replacement surgery is a significant operation and patients can expect to be pretty sore for the first two weeks after the operation. And during that time, it’s really important that you ice the knee regularly and you take your painkillers because this is going to allow you to start to get that range of movement back within the knee. Typically, my patient’s 90% recovered from the operation at 12 weeks after surgery, but the full recovery for a knee replacement operation can take up to one year.
