Referral routes

Select the option most relevant to you

Please choose the route below. Each section explains how to refer, what information is useful and how our team will support the patient pathway.

For GPs

GP referral guidance

We work closely with GPs to provide prompt access to orthopaedic opinion, imaging pathways and consultant-led treatment plans.

Our consultants work privately across several London locations to provide convenient access for patients, and are based in leading teaching hospitals in their NHS practices.

To refer your patient, you can choose from the following:

  1. Send a referral to us, in your own standard letter format, at gp.referrers@gop.health. If you and your patient do not have a consultant preference, our operations team will arrange an appointment with an appropriate member of the team.
  2. Use our online referral form.
  3. For urgent referrals or same-day advice, telephone the administration team on 0203 926 5615. We can connect you with one of our consultants directly if required.

For insured patients, some insurers require sight of a GP referral letter before authorising a specialist consultation. It is advisable that patients check with their own insurer.

For allied healthcare professionals

AHP referral guidance

A consultant opinion can be helpful where symptoms are not improving, diagnosis is uncertain, imaging is required or the patient may need procedural or surgical treatment.

Helpful referral details include the working diagnosis, functional limitations, rehabilitation progress, response to treatment, red flags if present and any specific questions you would like answered.

To refer your patient, you can choose from the following:

  1. Send a referral to us, using your own standard form or letter, at info@gop.health.
  2. Use our online referral form.
  3. For urgent referrals or same-day advice, telephone the administration team on 0203 926 5615.
For patients

Patient self-referrals

Our team is pleased to support patients who would like to self-refer. Patients can contact us by email, telephone or using the website enquiry form for appointment booking.

If you do not know which Grosvenor Orthopaedic Partners consultant you should see, please speak with our operations team and they will help guide you to an appropriate colleague and appointment.

If you have private medical insurance, your insurer may require a GP referral letter before authorising care. It is also important to ask if your insurer requires a named consultant.

For consultants

Tertiary and second opinion referrals

Grosvenor Orthopaedic Partners can support specialist referrals across orthopaedic sub-specialties, including complex cases and second opinions.

When making a referral for a patient who has already benefited from orthopaedic review or treatment, please include relevant clinic letters, imaging reports, other investigation results and the specific question you would like addressed.

For second opinions, it is especially helpful to provide a concise summary of the patient journey so far, including previous diagnosis, treatment, surgery or proposed management plan.

To make a referral of this nature, please write to us at info@gop.health and include all relevant supporting information.

How it works

The referral process

Our aim is to make access to private orthopaedic care simple, responsive and clinically appropriate.

1

Send the referral

Send a standard referral letter by email, use the online form or call our team for urgent advice.

2

We direct it

If you do not have a named consultant preference, our operations team will help direct the patient to the most appropriate consultant or sub-specialty.

3

Appointment arranged

The patient is contacted and offered an appointment at their convenience, with same or next day options wherever possible.

4

Clear follow-up

The treating consultant provides a clear plan and communicates appropriately with the referring clinician.

  • Please choose "No preference" if you are unsure which consultant is most appropriate.
  • Include the referrer name, organisation, email and telephone number.
  • Attach or mention relevant imaging where available.
  • For urgent cases, please call rather than relying only on the form.

Yes. We welcome referrals from allied healthcare professionals, particularly where symptoms are not improving, diagnosis is uncertain, imaging may be needed or consultant input would help guide care.

Where a referral is urgent, please call the administration team on 0203 926 5615 so that the case can be reviewed and directed as quickly as possible.

Where appropriate, the referring clinician will receive communication following consultation, including the diagnosis, treatment plan and next steps.

    Need help directing a referral?

Our operations team can help identify the most appropriate pathway and consultant for the patient's symptoms, condition or injury.
