Consultant Paediatric and Adolescent Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr Ng Man Sun is a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery specialising in Paediatric Surgery. He is the clinical lead for the Paediatric Orthopaedic Department at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and also works at St Mary’s Hospital as part of West London Children’s Healthcare and One Hatfield Hospital.
Stephen runs a busy paediatric orthopaedic and sports injury practice. He manages a wide range of childhood conditions including paediatric trauma and sports injuries, complex foot disorders, clubfoot, childhood hip conditions, neuromuscular problems, and the correction of limb deformity.
Stephen recognises that each child presents with their own unique problems and therefore creates personalised management plans for all his patients using the most up to date evidence-based practices. Each child and their family are at the heart of his decision making and you child will always come first.

  • Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH)
  • Congenital Foot Conditions including Congenital Talipes Equinovarus (CTEV) or “clubfoot” and Ponseti Casting, Congenital Vertical Talus and Metatarsus Adductus
  • Neuromuscular disorders including Cerebral Palsy
  • Lower limb and rotational deformities including “knocked knees”, “bowed knees” and “in-toeing”
  • Paediatric hip pain, injuries or conditions including Perthes and SCFE
  • Paediatric knee pain, injuries or conditions including Osgood Schlatter’s Disease, Sinding-Larsen-Johansson and Osteochondritis Dissecans
  • Paediatric foot and ankle pain, injuries or conditions including Sever’s Disease, flat feet and toe-walking gait
  • Extensive experience managing babies, infants, toddlers and adolescent children.
  • High volume elective and trauma paediatric orthopaedic practice.
  • Consultant at a Tertiary Paediatric Orthopaedic Centre
  • Paediatric Fellowship completed at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital
  • Experience of managing high level athletes.
  • Stephen underwent all his under- and postgraduate medical and surgical training in London, completing his higher surgical training in Orthopaedics and Trauma on the North-West London Training Rotation
  • Worked at the John Radcliffe Hospital, a Level I Adult and Paediatric Trauma Centre in Oxford
  • Fellowship trained In Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery
  • First Fellowship at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital during which he also undertook the prestigious UK based Fred Dietz Clubfoot Fellowship combined with Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital
  • He regularly presents in National and International Meetings and Forums in Paediatric Orthopaedics.
  • Stephen completed his BSc. at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.  He undertook scientific research which later helped in the development of an amputee prosthesis (ITAP).
  • Current research in Bone and Joint Infections and contributed to the PIC Bone Research Trial.
  • Awarded an Outstanding Contribution Teaching Award by the North-West Thames Deanery.
