Mr Emeka Oragui and Mr Luke Jones, seen here with the anaesthetic team and nursing team, were pleased to successfully perform a total femoral replacement at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
Mr Oragui said “Total Femoral Replacement, where the entire thigh bone and the hip and knee joints are replaced, is rarely performed.
In this case, a patient suffered a fracture between a revision hip replacement and a multiply revised knee replacement. Both were loose as a result. This is an unusual scenario and a significant surgical undertaking. Mr Jones and I will often operate together in these circumstances.
I am delighted that, because of the excellent care provided by the entire team especially the nursing and anaesthetic staff, the patient has recovered well. She has since been discharged from hospital.”
Many thanks to the team at Stryker (Stanmore Implants) for supporting the case.
