Grosvenor Orthopaedic Partners Consultant Knee Surgeon, Mr Luke Jones, was featured on Sky News this weekend discussing reasons for the increased ACL rupture rates in female athletes.  The news team interviewed Luke and then followed him in theatre as an ACL reconstruction was performed. Luke said “Thank you to the team at the Data and Forensics Department at Sky News for asking me to take part. The reasons for the increased rupture rate in female athletes are complex and multifactorial. Sky News have done a great job in highlighting this important problem.”

You can watch the entire news segment, which was shown on eight occasions over the weekend, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJ3jwqQr2Kw

The Sky News team were present in the operating theatres at King Edward VIIs where Luke performs the majority of his knee ligament reconstructions. After the filming Luke said “It’s a great team effort at King Edward VIIs Hospital. All members of the team come together to give the patient a great outcome. Of course, everyone was excited to see the TV cameras, but when the operation started, the professionalism of the team shone through as always.”
