Hip resurfacing for arthritis provides many patients with a good long term function however fractures around a resurfaced hip may be complex especially in the context of significant tissue damage from the resurfaced hip.
These x-rays are of a patient admitted under the care of Mr Oragui, who presented with a fracture around a resurfaced hip with evidence of tissue destruction during surgery. During surgery, the well fixed implant was removed carefully and to bypass the area of tissue damage, a long modular stem was used. A revision cup was used with a dual mobility liner enhance fixation and optimise stability.
