You can’t have missed all the news about vaccination over the Christmas break. Our Partners, as frontline NHS Consultants, have all committed to receiving two does of the vaccine.
Mr Luke Jones, Consultant Knee Surgeon, is pictured above receiving his vaccine on the 30th of December 2020 from the team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
Luke said “It’s a very small injection into the upper arm, and it only took a few moments. I am booked in for the second dose in three weeks time. It’s essential for me to be vaccinated in order to protect my patients. I’d encourage everyone to take the vaccine if they are eligible”
Mr James White, Consultant Shoulder & Elbow Surgeon, agrees. “The safety of our patients is paramount and we all need to do everything we can to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Having a vaccine doesn’t mean we will be reducing any of our safety measures though. You will still see all our consultants wearing face masks and gloves as a minimum in clinic. We offer remote consultations online for patients who are worried about coming to clinic in person. Please check the Covid-19 section of our website for all our protocols.”
For those with an interest in how the coronavirus numbers are changing on a day to day basis, the government daily summary can be seen here with local updates searchable by postcode.
The New York Times has an excellent Covid-19 Vaccine Tracker here for the 64(!) vaccines that are undergoing human clinical trials, 20 of which are in the final stages of testing. In addition, there are at least 85 preclinical rials taking pace. We will update you with more vaccine news as it happens!
